“ロッシー”事故で安全対策見直し

　１０日、静岡市の日本平動物園でホッキョクグマのロッシーが投げた遊び道具のブイ（直径約３０センチ、重さ１キロ）が男性の頭に当たり、５針を縫うけがをした事故を受け、動物園側は来園者の安全対策の見直しに入りました。
　獣舎で清掃中だったため、別の獣舎でロッシーがいた場所と壁との距離は約３．５メートル。ロッシーが飛ばしたブイは５メートル以上高く上がり、４メートルほど遠くに飛んで壁を越えたことになります。
　通常の獣舎には注意を呼び掛ける表示がありましたが、事故のあった獣舎には表示がありませんでした。
　事故から１日たった１１日、今後はロッシーにブイを与えないということで注意書きは撤去されました。来園者が安心して人気者のロッシーの元気な姿を見るためにも、動物園側には今後、十分な安全面の配慮が求められます。
